Dora was born at her grandparents’, William and Margaret Hutchinson, homestead now occupied by Duane and Barbara Tyler in southwest Union, Oregon. In 1890 Dora’s parents, William Rushton Hutchinson (1846-1923) and Isabel Asbury Hutchinson (1856-1918) purchased the farm at 1393 Cove-Union Road (now N Cove Street in Union, and Hwy 237). Dora’s three siblings, Ralph, Stephen and Mabel were born at the new house. Except for attending Willamette University to earn a bachelors’ degree, the University of Chicago to earn a masters degree in Pharmacology and working in the shipyards in Portland during World War II, Dora lived her entire life at 1393 Cove-Union Road.
